- Fluoro by Nutters.
- ------------------
-
- This demo needs a StrongArm Risc PC with at least 6 meg of RAM and 1 meg of
- VRAM. It was developed on an ARM710 but it chugs on it, so don't bother! :)
- Also it is an absolute necessity to link your Risc PC to a decent set of
- speakers (i.e. ones that can cope with BASS! The music DOES have a lot of it
- and it is wasted on the crappy internal speaker :)
-
- "Fluoro" was compiled in one week and finished at 5.10am on 5th July 1997 after
- pulling a complete all-nighter. We hope it was worth it. :)
- Fluoro was the winner of the Revelation Demo Party on 5th July 1997.
- Released on 17th July 1997 after a little tweaking.
-
- All code by Chris of Nutters.
- Graphics and Styling by Marcus and Ade of Reverse Nation.
- Music remixed by Distant Signal.
- Production by Alex of Nutters.
- Digital Symphony Player © BASS.
- All code, music and graphics © Nutters and Reverse Nation 1997.
-
- Cheers to Saint for the loan of his StrongArm Risc PC. :)
- Greets to other abscent Nutters: Dan, Nick and Oli.
- Next time maybe. :)
-
- This is the final release of Fluoro and can be spread by any method you want
- (Internet, BBS, floppy disc or CD-ROM). Please show respect for our work by
- not altering, adding or removing any of the files in the application.
- We would also like to keep track of the distribution of the demo, so if you
- have put it on your BBS, Internet Site, CD Rom or PD Disk please email and
- tell me: Chris Hubball, ee5cph@bath.ac.uk.
-
- History:
- --------
-
- Nutters were formed in the summer of 1995, kind of as a joke. We were bored
- and we decided to work on demo, something that would be different on the
- Acorn scene. This demo has so far had 3 different names, and several
- different styles over the years. At last we have something we're happy with
- (at least, we'll be happy with the final release when it's finished :)
-
- We've tried to capture the look and feel of PC demos which are, in our
- opinion, a thousand times better than anything on the Acorn. This is our
- first attempt, future ones will be better and less constrained by time. :)
- It's about time the Acorn scene had something more than bleepy trackers,
- grafitti graphics, naff 4 year old routines and coders with huge egos. It's
- time to move on into the 1990's. This is our first step, hopefully others
- will follow.
-
- There will certainly be a follow-up to "Fluoro" but on what format we're
- not sure yet. We may branch out onto the PC, we may not. We'll see. :)
- (And no "we hate the PC" e-mails please. The Acorn scene has far too many
- childish idiots proclaiming this. We like to use the best machines for the job,
- and if the PC happens to be the best for the purpose of graphics/code/whatever
- in the production of our demos, so be it. Whinging 12 year-olds in Acorn t-shirts won't
- change this. :)

- Here's a copy of the ReadMe file that should accompany the demo:
-
- Fluoro
- ======
-
- Running
- -------
- To run Fluoro copy it out of the archive onto your harddisc, then double
- click on the !Fluoro icon. You may experience glitches in the music, this
- is due to Digital Symphony and/or various IDE cards. It has been tested on
- the standard Acorn interface and the RapIDE without problem.
-
- Screen Mode
- -----------
- Fluoro runs in a standard Acorn 480x352 256 colour mode, but if you don't
- have that monitor definition use the one provided by us inside the !Fluoro
- directory (it is the Acorn default).
-
- Distribution
- ------------
- This demo may be freely distributed over BBS's and the Internet etc. Please
- show respect for our work by not altering, adding or removing any of the
- files in the application.
- We would also like to keep track of the distribution of the demo, so if you
- have put it on your BBS, Internet Site, CD Rom or PD Disk please email and
